So I decided to write some more on demand and supply, as apparently some people still find it a bit difficult! Read this and stuff it in your minds. It is really easy if you JUST REMEMBER:
If demand increases, supply extends.
If demand shifts to the right, supply extends.
If demand decreases, supply contracts.
If demand shifts to the left, supply contracts.
If supply increases, demand extends.
If supply shifts to the right, demand extends.
If supply decreases, demand contracts.
If supply shifts to the left, demand contracts.
PLEASE PEOPLE, REMEMBER:
Increase = Shift to the right --> EXTENSION
Decrease = Shift to the left --> CONTRACTION
PRACTICE THIS AS OFTEN AS YOU CAN!

ReplyDeleteMary you know it's true! It's fine! At least I do something now!
ReplyDeleteI often draw the attention of teachers in other schools plus senior EF staff to pupils' blogs....
ReplyDeletehehe is there no positive publicity in that? students stimulating each other to learn more than they do in classes? :-P
ReplyDeleteIt's your blog, do as you wish. However I cannot recommend the blog to other schools etc etc if there's that kind of language. A teacher's magazine refused to recommend my blog because I posted about the possibility that an example of Giffen goods is prostitutes!
ReplyDeleteChris, I was just kidding in my comment. I completely understand that this is not the kind of publicity you and/or EF needs. It has nothing to do with the great education we get here. That is also the reason why I removed it the moment I read your reply. It was unthoughtful of me to post it in the first place. It just seemed funny at first! I am sorry if I got you into trouble! But I'm sure no damage has been done!
ReplyDeleteThis is all a bit precious! What I do in my blog is up to me no-one else.
ReplyDeleteThe joy of private education!
I think prostitutes are Giffen goods...there, shoot me down!
ReplyDeleteDaily blog?
ReplyDeleteYea Chris you probably don't think this is a good excuse, but I'm working on a very detailed video on demand, supply, increase, decrease, extension and contraction. This video includes a lot of graphs so it takes a lot of time. Sorry my blog is far from daily! I hope to finish the video either tonight or tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteYou are an excellent student Tom, I will look forward to the video.
ReplyDeleteI would also like you to set up a Sociology blog (as you study Sociology) perhaps a bit like this: http://sociologyforthemasses.blogspot.com/
and of course link to many other Sociology blogs. Sociology is very interesting and you have an excellent teacher (much better than the teacher last year!) so that subject too can extend you.
Then you also have the 29 extra topics to blog about for Economics.
Plus you have the presentation on Conservative policy.
Plus The Bridge and compulsory drinking and dancing...
No comment on the prostitutes then!
ReplyDeleteInteresting stuff
